In the NFL if you have a negative 3 turnover margin your chance of winning is a dismal 8.2%. If your quarterback is Patrick Mahomes, who was responsible for three of those 4 turnovers, your chances rise dramatically. Miami’s opportunistic defense took advantage of some over throws and tipped balls and picked PM15 off three times that added 150% to his season’s interception total. Here’s the deal folks. Miami is a decent team with a strong future, Tua will be a top 10 quarterback in this league someday. The truth is their current ceiling is lower than the Chiefs floor. The Chiefs probably left 14 points on the board, still scored 33, lost the turnover battle, and still won the dang game 33-27. As a fan I never once thought they were not going to win that one. We are reaching an arrogance as a fandom but this is what this 2020 team has given us. We may not like winning by a single possession but good teams win games and bad teams lose games and the Chiefs are winning a whole lot of games and are 12-1 for the first time in Chiefs history.
At the time of this writing I fully believe Taysom Hill will be the starting quarterback for the Saints on Sunday afternoon when the Chiefs head to New Orleans. This is a one of the two matchups I had circled on the calendar since the schedule was released. It was also one of the three losses I predicted at then beginning of the season. The Chiefs may be down both starting tackles the Saints have a deep and versatile front 7, which is cause for concern. New Orleans has also been very effective running the ball with Hill at quarterbacks. Alvin Kamara and Latavious Murray are a scary duo known the Chiefs weakness at stopping the run. Sean Payton will have a good game plan in place. All that said in 8 of the 9 losses Patrick Mahomes led teams have had in his career the winning team had to put up 31 points, I’m not convinced a Taysom Hill led team can do that against this version of the Chiefs. Will I be surprised if New Orleans wins, absolutely not but I’m still riding with the Kingom. Chiefs 34 Saints 27
I headed back downtown this week to try another new guy on the scene Rochester Brewing and Roasting Company, a nice and super fun spot right off of Southwest Blvd. I chose their Katia Duke variety Honduran single origins. Mild out of the bag with slight hints of brewers malt and corn flakes. It opens up with intensity once ground, you find more depth with dark chocolate, cherries, and nutmeg. Once brewed it’s a self made mocha, chocolate is the overwhelming winner in this one. Notes of hot cocoa, honey roasted nuts, and some store shelved dark chocolate coat the mouth in a very light delicate way. Almost zero lingering bitterness and aftertaste round out this Central American treat. I strongly encourage all my readers to check out this place for an early morning beverage. If you can’t make it downtown order online at the link below. As always Let’s Go Chiefs!
