Monday Night Massacre

In what was billed as the game of the year, one team showed how far ahead they are while the other limped back to the locker room trying to figure out where they go from here. Kansas City easily handled Baltimore Monday 34-20 in front of announced attendance of 0 fans at M&T Bank Stadium. Really the score does not give any indication on how much of a blowout this really was. Kansas City left a minimum of 7 points on the field and Baltimore ran back a kickoff for a TD for the first time since 2012 against the Chiefs. The Chiefs won the yardage battle 517-228 and held reigning MVP Lamar Jackson to 180 TOTAL yards and only 97 through the air. It’s scary to think this was not the Chiefs best game, they need to be able to tackle better especially at the linebacker position, had numerous mistakes on special teams, and fumbled on the positive side of the field where we could have put this game on ice early in the third quarter. With all of that they beat, what many consider the second best team in football, by two touchdowns on the road in Primetime. If this team plays at this level or any better, the only team beating them is theirselves.

This week the Chiefs come back home to take on The Evil Empire, the 2-1 New England Patriots. With Cam Newton at quarterback I really don’t know how seriously I can take this team. They run the ball extremely effectively, which is the formula to beating the Chiefs but they do not get to the quarterback and are not good at defending the pass, which is how you lose to the Chiefs. I fully expect the Chiefs and Andy Reid to come out with urgency and fire and put this one away early. Patrick “Money” Mahomes has another 300+ yard performance and CEH has a monster game receiving the ball. CHEIFS 37 PATRIOTS 20

We travel a little bit south of the Meyer home and the Truman Sports Complex for this weeks coffee selection. We have the Columbian Catalina from Post Coffee Company in Lee’s Summit and spoiler alert it has been my favorite of any of the four I have tried this season so far. Manly scents of bourbon, vanilla, oaked Chardonnay hit the nose right when I open this bag. Ground up some of the fruitiness starts to expose itself with a nose full of an exceptional Cab Sauv, and some weird meatiness like biltong or beef jerky. In the mouth it is light and complex and extremely upfront and in your business with a basket of fruit. I get kiwi and ripe banana with some pineapple-esque sweetness and for the final caveat there is a strong grapefruit tang at the finish. I’m blown away by this coffee and can’t believe this is the first time I’ve tried Post. My apologies guys on that. I do encourage any of you to check them out in Lee’s Summit or find them on the web on their site. http://www.postcoffeecompany.com/
